How the "ADHD Tax" Increases Your Financial Burden
When we talk about the ADHD tax, producing your income tax declaration is definitely something that figures on the list of what ADHD is costing you as it is not uncommon for people with ADHD to be late or even a few years behind in their declarations.
The ADHD tax amounts to thousands of dollars every year. In the US, adults with ADHD earn about $15 to $20 thousand dollars LESS annually than our neurotypical peers with the same education? Here in Canada, it’s approximately $10 to $15K less per year.
The estimated lifetime economic impact in the United States, ranges between $400,000-to half a million dollars per individual in lost wages, fees, and treatment costs. In Canada, it ranges from $350,000-$450,000 per person in lost wages, healthcare costs, and productivity losses.
